1.) Phillips picks out #ASGWorthy birthday gift

ATLANTA -- Family is important to Brandon Phillips, and as he was rounding third base, sporting his "Paw Patrol" and "PJ Masks"-inspired cleats, he knew that his third-inning home run was for his son.

Phillips' son, Micah, turned 4 years old on Saturday, and he was happy to hit a homer on his son's birthday. The shot propelled the Braves to a 3-1 victory over the Brewers at SunTrust Park.

2.) Suzuki seizing chances, impressing Braves

ATLANTA -- Braves catcher Kurt Suzuki continues to hit when given the opportunity. Wednesday night was no different as he went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, which capped Atlanta's six-run first inning. The Braves went on to post an 8-4 victory over the Blue Jays at SunTrust Park.

The veteran catcher's biggest adjustment has been staying relaxed at the plate. He has been working with Braves hitting coach Kevin Seitzer to focus on staying inside the ball and driving it up the middle.

3.) Father's Day treat for Phillips on walk-off hit

ATLANTA -- With his dad, James Phillips, and his children in attendance at SunTrust Park on Sunday afternoon, Brandon Phillips knew he had to make this Father's Day memorable.

The Stone Mountain, Ga., native did just that by adding the final crescendo to a dramatic weekend. His second walk-off single in less than 24 hours gave the Braves a 5-4 victory over the Marlins.

4.) For Inciarte, All-Star Game was toast to 1st half

ATLANTA-- When it came down to the Braves' All-Star selection, there was not a more deserving candidate than dynamo center fielder Ender Inciarte. As he stepped onto the field at Marlins Park on Tuesday night, Inciarte felt honored to be a part of history.

"Just everything about the game," Inciarte said. "Once you heard the national anthem and you realize that you are standing in line with all those guys, it is really special. I am happy with today and hopefully I can repeat it again."

5.) Braves honor local bike shop owners

ATLANTA -- Tim and Becky O'Mara saw a chance to help their community nine years ago and started Bearings Bike Shop in metro Atlanta.

On Wednesday afternoon, the O'Maras were recognized as part of Braves Community Heroes Week after starting a mentoring program to help local youth.

6.) Surprise visit begins Community Heroes Week

ATLANTA -- Jen Hidinger, one of the founders for The Giving Kitchen, a non-profit organization that helps restaurant workers in a crisis, was shocked to hear sounds of marching drums coming down the Atlanta Beltline near the Ponce City Market.

She also was surprised to see Braves personnel and players, including Freddie Freeman, Kurt Suzuki, and Jason Hursh, who were in attendance to celebrate the beginning of Braves Community Heroes Week. Each day, the team will celebrate a local hero making a difference in the community.

7.) Mets offer advice to Draft-bound players

ATLANTA -- Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson remembers his Draft night experience. He was dealing with pulled wisdom teeth when he got the call that he was going to be drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the third round of the 2002 MLB Draft.

"I had no clue that the Tigers were going to draft me, as they only talked to me [for] an hour maybe two or three days before the draft," Granderson said. "I didn't really get a chance to speak to them too much because I had my wisdom teeth pulled."
